This holiday season Moo Duk Kwan Martial Arts will be hosting its 3rd annual holiday drive. Our holiday drive supports the Outreach Ministry for the Homeless, Elderly and any other person in need. The ministry is coordinated by one of our adult students, Lois Trapp. She has been maintaining the ministry for over 15 years but due to inflation and changes in the economy, her efforts have become much more difficult.
Lois currently produces anywhere from 90-120 shoe boxes filled with toiletries and small food items each month. The boxes are delivered to the New Beginnings United Methodist Church in Camden where they are distributed to those in need on a monthly basis.
Items needed for the boxes include:
- Men’s tube socks
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Deodorant
- Wash Cloths
- Razors
- Shampoo
- Hair Conditioner
- Small packages of tissues
- Soaps
- Lotion or Vaseline
- Combs
- Body Powder
- One size fits all hats
- Scarves
- Sanitary napkins
- Small cans of fruit with flip top lids
- Small cans of sausages with flip top lids
- Plastic forks or spoons
- Energy or cereal bars
- Packages of peanut butter or crackers
- Mouthwash
- Lip Balm
- Bottles of water
- Juices
- Dental floss
- Cotton Balls
- Bandaids
- Small bottles of hand sanitizer or towelettes
- McDonalds Gift Certificates
- Individually wrapped hard candy
- Etc…
In light of the upcoming winter season the ministry is also asking for gently used towels and blankets, afghans, and gently used coats. They’ll also accept all men’s, women’s, and children’s clothes, including useable shoes – and even gently used stuffed animals or toys for the children.
Boxes for our holiday drive will be in the lobby from Monday, November 30th through Saturday, December 19th. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated and will be put to good use. Thanks in advance for your love and support in helping those in need!
